False hope in dish served by airline? (3,2,3,3)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

pie in the sky

'false hope' is the definition.
(pie in the sky means an improbable idea)

'in dish served by airline?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'in' is present in the answer.
'dish' could be 'pie' (I've seen this before) and 'pie' is found in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

(Other definitions for pie in the sky that I've seen before include "An improbable future benefit" , "Something nice to think about but which is unlikely to occur" , "Remote future benefit" , "Something that's desirable but not likely to happen" , "Dream" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
