Crossword Genius

Feeble doctor in denial about another’s salary (5-5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

namby-pamby

'feeble' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'doctor in denial about another's salary' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'doctor' could be 'mb' (Bachelor of Medicine, Medicinae Baccalaureus) and 'mb' is found in the answer.
'denial' could be 'nay' (nay is a kind of denial) and 'nay' is found within the leftover letters.
'about' could be 'a' (abbreviation in Chambers) and 'a' is found in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

(Other definitions for namby-pamby that I've seen before include "Ineffectual" , "Lacking willpower or vitality" , "Feeble and spineless" , "Feeble - sentimentally childish" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
