I believe the answer is:

macbeth

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'tragedy' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'film drama theatric club stage at church in the east it's a' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'film' could be 'et' (E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial) and 'et' is located in the answer.
'a' is present in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for macbeth that I've seen before include "In sleep murderer" , "piece" , "dramatic role" , "Scottish ruler" , "He doth murder sleep (Shak.)" .)

I've seen this clue in The Irish Times.
