Crossword Genius

Film literally produced down under (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

amadeus

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'film' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'literally produced down under' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'produced' could be 'made' ('make' can be a synonym of 'produce') and 'made' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'aus' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for amadeus that I've seen before include "See 12" , "Mozart play/film" , "Play about Mozart (Shaffer)" , "P. Shaffer's Mozart play" , "Film on Mozart's life" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
