Crossword Genius

Fired with real reform and no exaggeration? (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

literal

'no exaggeration' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'fired with real reform' is the wordplay.
'fired' becomes 'lit' (set on fire).
'with' means one lot of letters go next to another.
'reform' is an anagram indicator (letters in a new form).
'real' with letters rearranged gives 'eral'.
'lit'+'eral'='LITERAL'

'and' is the link.

(Other definitions for literal that I've seen before include "Word-for-word" , "Using words in their most basic sense, exact" , "mistake" , "Accurate and unexaggerated" , "All tire (anag.)" .)

I've seen this clue in The Globe and Mail and The Irish News.
