Ross

I believe the answer is:

stair

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'flight' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'gaze one hears' is the wordplay.
'gaze' becomes 'stare' ('stare' can be a synonym of 'gaze').
'one hears' shows a homophone (sound like) (I've seen 'hear' mean this).
'stare' sounds like 'STAIR'.

'member's fixed' acts as a link.
This may not be right. Some or all of it may be part of another bit of the clue.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for stair that I've seen before include "Word linking way and well" , "One step in a series" , "this could get one down" , "something of a case" , "Step in house" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
