Ross

I believe the answer is:

doses

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'medicine' is the definition.
(a dose is an amount of medicine)

'flop down taking pill and spoonfuls' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'down' could be 'd' and 'd' is found in the answer.
'pill' could be 'e' (ecstasy) and 'e' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'oss' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

'of' is the link.
