Floral trophy at the Dairy Show? (9)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

buttercup

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'the dairy show?' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't see how one could define the other.

'floral trophy' is the wordplay.
'floral' becomes 'butter' (I am not sure about this - if you are sure you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'trophy' becomes 'cup' (cup is a kind of trophy).
'butter'+'cup'='BUTTERCUP'

'at' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for buttercup that I've seen before include "weedy type" , "Common meadow flower" , "Bright yellow flower" , "Common yellow meadow plant" , "Flowering plant" .)

I've seen this clue in The Globe and Mail.
