I believe the answer is:

elizabethan

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'hunt in shakespeare?' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both people as well as being singular nouns.
Maybe they are linked in a way I don't understand?

'flower girl joins british agent' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'girl' could be 'lizabeth' and 'lizabeth' is found within the answer.
'flower' could be 'ea' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'ea' is located in the remaining letters.
A single letter 'n' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for elizabethan that I've seen before include "type of period architecture" , "Relating to period around sixteen hundred" , "Drake, for example" , "like Sir Philip Sidney" , "Relating to later sixteenth century period in England" .)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
