Following trend, in a way (5,1,7)
I believe the answer is:
after a fashion
'in a way' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'following trend' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'following' could be 'after' (following can mean after or as a result of) and 'after' is located in the answer.
'trend' could be 'fashion' (fashion is a kind of trend) and 'fashion' is present in the answer.
A single letter 'a' remains which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for after a fashion that I've seen before include "To some extent but not perfectly" , "Behind time" , "In some manner but not very well" , "Following a fad" , "Not completely" .)
