Forced old wrong keys (8)
I believe the answer is:
extorted
'forced' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both to do with creating things as well as being past participle verbs.
Perhaps there's a link between them I don't understand?
'old wrong keys' is the wordplay.
'old' becomes 'ex' (prefix meaning former or onetime).
'wrong' becomes 'tort' (legal term).
'keys' becomes 'ed' (I am not sure about this - if you are sure you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'ex'+'tort'+'ed'='EXTORTED'
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for extorted that I've seen before include "Extracted money with menaces" , "Forced out" , "Gained by threats" , "Obtained money by threats" , "Obtained by force or threat" .)
