Crossword Genius

Forced to go round online service provider and expose as false (8)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

disprove

'expose as false' is the definition.
(to disprove something is to show it is false)

'forced to go round online service provider' is the wordplay.
'forced' becomes 'drove' (I've seen this before).
'to go round' means one lot of letters goes inside another.
'online service provider' becomes 'ISP' (internet service provider).
'drove' going around 'isp' is 'DISPROVE'.

'and' is the link.

(Other definitions for disprove that I've seen before include "Refute, rebut" , "Negate" , "Show to be false - so provide" , "challenge successfully?" , "Demonstrate to be false" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
