Forgetful sailor was annoyed after nets misplaced (6-6)
I believe the answer is:
absent-minded
'forgetful' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'sailor was annoyed after nets misplaced' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'sailor' could be 'ab' (abbreviation for able seaman) and 'ab' is found within the answer.
an anagram of 'nets' is 'sent' which is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'minded' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for absent-minded that I've seen before include "Prone to forgetfulness" , "Scatterbrained" , "Forgetful, inattentive" , "Liable to inattentiveness" , "Wandering" .)
