Formidable woman appears to be tedious (6)
I believe the answer is:
dragon
'formidable woman' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'to be tedious' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'be' could be 'go' (going is a kind of being) and 'go' is found in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'appears' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for dragon that I've seen before include "St George is said to have killed one" , "Reptilian monster" , "Mythical reptile" , "Mythical fire-breather" , "Fire-breathing beast" .)
