Fragrant plant no longer for the solver and setter (5)
I believe the answer is:
thyme
'fragrant plant' is the definition.
'thyme' can be an answer for 'plant' (thyme is a kind of plant). I am not sure about the 'fragrant' bit.
'no longer for the solver and setter' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'the' could be 't' (the is pronounced as a 't' sound in some dialects) and 't' is located in the answer.
'setter' could be 'me' (the setter of the clue) and 'me' is found in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for thyme that I've seen before include "Aromatic shrub" , "Plant used in cooking" , "Shrub - herb" , "Small shrub: leaves used to season food" , "Aromatic ingredient" .)
