Fuel for flight (8)

I believe the answer is:
kerosene
This might be a double definition.
'fuel' is the first definition.
(kerosene is a kind of fuel)
'flight' is the second definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't see how one could define the other.
'for' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for kerosene that I've seen before include "No seeker for American fuel oil" , "Oil used as fuel in lamps and heaters" , "Sore knee (anag.)" , "Paraffin oil (E, not I)" , "Combustible" .)
