Funny things, boats, if a person stands on top (3-6)
I believe the answer is:
one-liners
'funny things' is the definition.
(one-liners are one-line jokes)
'boats if a person stands on top' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'a' could be 'one' and 'one' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'liners' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for one-liners that I've seen before include "Quips" , "Short gags" .)
