Garment I’ve just bought in US state (3,6)
I believe the answer is:
new jersey
'us state' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'garment i've just bought' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'garment' could be 'jersey' (jersey is a kind of garment) and 'jersey' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'new' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'in' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for new jersey that I've seen before include "US state; seasonal gift?" , "Unused pullover" , "what might be requirement for scruffy tramp" , "The Garden State" , "Newark's state" .)
