Garment sometimes on show (6)
I believe the answer is:
jumper
'garment' is the definition.
(I know that jumper is a type of garment)
'sometimes on show' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'show' could be 'er' (US medical drama) and 'er' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'jump' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for jumper that I've seen before include "that may be long for an athlete" , "Woolly" , "Knitwear - bounder" , "Kangaroo and knitted garment" , "Top" .)
