Crossword Genius

Gate makes titles run out (9)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

turnstile

'gate' is the definition.
(I know that turnstile is a type of gate)

'titles run out' is the wordplay.
'out' indicates an anagram (out can mean wrong or inaccurate).
'titles'+'run'='titlesrun'
'titlesrun' with letters rearranged gives 'TURNSTILE'.

'makes' is the link.

(Other definitions for turnstile that I've seen before include "Means of regulating passage" , "gateway" , "Control for spectators' entry" , "Crowd-controlling gate, at entrance to sports-ground say" , "Mechanical entry gate" .)

I've seen this clue in The Daily Express.
