Get that woman sounding like an emperor (6)
I believe the answer is:
caesar
'an emperor' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'get that woman sounding like' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'sounding' could be 'e' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'e' is present in the answer.
'like' could be 'as' and 'as' is present in the leftover letters.
The remaining letters 'car' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
(Other definitions for caesar that I've seen before include "Roman dictator" , "Roman chief like Julius" , "See 2" , "Top man" , "Emperor of ancient Rome, like Julius" .)
