Give dad less than a penny! (3)
I believe the answer is:
pay
'give' is the definition.
(paying is a kind of giving)
'dad less than a penny' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'dad' could be 'pa' (synonyms) and 'pa' is located in the answer.
A single letter 'y' remains which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for pay that I've seen before include "Remunerate" , "Money for work" , "Salary, wages" , "stop possible leaks on board" , "profitable" .)
