Give orders to a scribe? (7)
I believe the answer is:
dictate
This could be a double definition.
'give orders' is the first definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'scribe?' is the second definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't understand how they can define each other.
'to a' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for dictate that I've seen before include "Give orders like Stalin" , "Command" , "speak slowly" , "say" , "speak (words to be taken down)" .)
