Give worker quiet warning (4)
I believe the answer is:
beep
'warning' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't understand how one could define the other.
'give worker quiet' is the wordplay.
'give' means one lot of letters go next to another.
'worker' becomes 'bee' (a worker bee).
'quiet' becomes 'p' (music symbol for 'piano', ie soft or quiet).
'bee' put next to 'p' is 'BEEP'.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for beep that I've seen before include "High-pitched noise" , "Short high-pitched sound from an electronic device" , "Sound of pager" , "Warning signal" , "Honk" .)
