Ross

I believe the answer is:

tipster

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'giver' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both people as well as being singular nouns.
Perhaps there's an association between them I don't understand?

'advice to a fine end?' is the wordplay.
'advice' becomes 'tip' (a tip is a piece of advice).
'to a fine end?' becomes 'ster' (I am not sure about this - if you are sure you should believe this answer much more).
'tip'+'ster'='TIPSTER'

'of' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for tipster that I've seen before include "Seller of information on racecourse etc" , "Adviser on betting" , "Seller of inside information" , "Supposed expert on horses" , "Gambling advisor" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
