Giving distraction when using toboggan (8)
I believe the answer is:
sledging
'giving distraction' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both to do with motion as well as being present participle verbs.
Maybe they are linked in a way I don't understand?
'using toboggan' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'toboggan' could be 'sled' (toboggan is a type of sled) and 'sled' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'ging' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'when' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for sledging that I've seen before include "Tobogganing; abusing batsman" , "Using a toboggan" , "playing in the snow" , "Riding over snow" , "Distracting opponents" .)
