Crossword Genius

Glazed, say, and back again by daughter (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

egged

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'glazed' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both to do with contact as well as being past participle verbs.
Maybe they are linked in a way I don't understand?

'say and back again by daughter' is the wordplay.
'say' becomes 'eg' (both can mean for example).
'and' is a charade indicator (letters next to each other).
'back again by daughter' becomes 'ged' (I am not sure about this - if you are sure you should believe this answer much more).
'eg'+'ged'='EGGED'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for egged that I've seen before include "Urged in ovoid manner" , "Urged with ova?" , "Urged with hen fruit?" , "Encouraged" .)

I've seen this clue in The Daily Express.
