Glorify a way-out recital? (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

adore

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'glorify' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'a way-out recital?' is the wordplay.
'a way' becomes 'av' (short for avenue).
'out' means to remove the last letter.
'recital?' becomes 'dore' (I can't explain this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'av' with its last letter taken away is 'a'.
'a'+'dore'='ADORE'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for adore that I've seen before include "Love, worship" , "Honour" , "Love, revere intensely" , "Love greatly" , "Like a lot" .)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
