Go bang, finally dropping surprise! (8)
I believe the answer is:
peekaboo
'go bang' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both acts as well as being singular nouns.
Maybe they are linked in a way I don't understand?
'finally dropping surprise' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'surprise' could be 'boo' ('boo!' is shouted to surprise someone) and 'boo' is present in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for peekaboo that I've seen before include "Toddler's face-hiding game" , "Game played with young children" , "Partially revealing" , "Game played with a young child" , "Peeping game" .)
