Goes aground by aeroplane! (5)
I believe the answer is:
taxis
'goes' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both to do with motion as well as being verbs in their -s form.
Perhaps there's an association between them I don't understand?
'aground by aeroplane' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'by' could be 'x' (2 by 4 is 2 x 4) and 'x' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'tais' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for taxis that I've seen before include "Cars with a driver for hire" , "return to right place" , "Cabs" .)
