Goes up in the air when one discloses unexpectedly (7)
I believe the answer is:
springs
'discloses unexpectedly' is the definition.
'springs' can be an answer for 'discloses' (springing is a kind of disclosing). I'm not sure about the 'unexpectedly' bit.
'goes up in the air when one' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'goes' could be 'rings' (ringing is a kind of going) and 'rings' is found in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for springs that I've seen before include "what might be after Alice?" , "Natural flows of ground water" , "Jumps; metal coils" , "Elastic metal coils" .)
