Good game — with student missing turn (9)
I believe the answer is:
pirouette
'turn' is the definition.
(I know that pirouette is a more specific form of the action pivot)
'good game with student missing' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'good' could be 'pi' (old-fashioned term for pious) and 'pi' is found in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
(Other definitions for pirouette that I've seen before include "Whirl round on one's toes" , "bit of dancing" , "Tore up tie (anag) - spin" , "Dancer's twirl" , "A dancer's spinning movement on tiptoe" .)
