lonely

'forsaken' is the definition.
(thesaurus)

'good looking but very absent taking name instead' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'taking' could be 'on' (eg one taking drugs is 'on' drugs) and 'on' is found in the answer.
'name' could be 'ely' and 'ely' is present in the answer.
A single letter 'l' remains which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for lonely that I've seen before include "From the beginning (Latin)" , "Solitary, lacking company" , "Solitary and sad" , "Without companionship" , "... in need of company ..." .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
