Gosh, look at that ring round the sun (4)
I believe the answer is:
halo
'round the sun' is the definition.
'halo' can be an answer for 'round' (thesaurus). I'm unsure of the 'the sun' bit.
'gosh look at that ring' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'look' could be 'lo' (archaic exclamation meaning 'look!') and 'lo' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ha' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for halo that I've seen before include "Holy ring" , "Imaginary circle over saint's head" , "glory" , "Disc of light" , "Sign of a saint" .)
