Got into line but collapsed (4,2)
I believe the answer is:
fell in
'collapsed' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'got into line' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'into' could be 'in' and 'in' is found in the answer.
'line' could be 'el' (el is a kind of line) and 'el' is located in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'but' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for fell in that I've seen before include "formed a military group" , "Took one's position" , "collapsed" .)
