Got into shape again and mended one's ways (8)
I believe the answer is:
reformed
'got' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both related to change as well as being past participle verbs.
Perhaps there's an association between them I don't understand?
'shape again and mended one's ways' is the wordplay.
'shape again' becomes 'reform' ('form' can be a synonym for 'shape' so perhaps 'reform' is OK for 'shape again').
'and' means one lot of letters go next to another.
'mended one's ways' becomes 'ed' (I can't justify this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'reform'+'ed'='REFORMED'
'into' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for reformed that I've seen before include "Changed for the better" , "sort of church" , "Restored - mended one's ways" .)
