Crossword Genius

Graceful mover and worker run away (8)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

antelope

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'graceful mover' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't understand how they can define each other.

'worker run away' is the wordplay.
'worker' becomes 'ant' (worker is a type of ant).
'run away' becomes 'elope' (I've seen this before).
'ant'+'elope'='ANTELOPE'

'and' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for antelope that I've seen before include "Horned animal" , "Springboks, say" , "eg Eland" , "Hartebeest, perhaps" , "Horned ruminant" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
