I believe the answer is:

theft

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'shoplifting' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'greek character almost catches fellow' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'character' could be 'he' (he is a kind of character) and 'he' is present in the answer.
'fellow' could be 'f' (abbreviation - of a society etc.) and 'f' is present in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for theft that I've seen before include "Lifting" , "Act of stealing" , "Action of stealing" , "Crime of stealing" , "Unlawful taking" .)

I've seen this clue in The Hindu.
