Group of players depart in case of emergency (6)
![Ross](/clue/static/ross-mug.min.png)
I believe the answer is:
equity
'group of players' is the definition.
'equity' can be an answer for 'group' (I have seen 'Group of performers' mean 'equity' so perhaps 'group' could also mean 'equity'). I am not certain of the 'of players' bit.
'depart in case of emergency' is the wordplay.
'depart' becomes 'quit' (quitting is a kind of departing).
'in' means one lot of letters goes inside another.
'case of' suggests removing the centre (outsides of).
'emergency' with its middle removed is 'ey'.
'quit' put inside 'ey' is 'EQUITY'.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for equity that I've seen before include "Fairness or impartiality" , "Group of performers" , "Fair play - actors' union" , "The ownership interest of shareholders in a company" , "actors' group" .)
