Had fight: thrown out (8)
I believe the answer is:
scrapped
'thrown out' is the definition.
(scrapping is a kind of throwing out)
'had fight' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'had' could be 'd' (in contractions e.g. 'I'd', 'you'd' etc) and 'd' is found within the answer.
'fight' could be 'scrap' (a scrap is a minor fight) and 'scrap' is located in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for scrapped that I've seen before include "Discarded as useless" , "abandoned in a heap?" , "Cancelled; fought" , "Abandoned - had a fight" , "Disposed of or had a fight" .)
