Crossword Genius

Hamburger for team? (9)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

mincemeat

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

This might be a double definition.

'hamburger' is the first definition.
The definition and answer can be both things that one consumes for nourishment as well as being singular nouns.
Perhaps you can see a link between them that I don't see?

'team?' is the second definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't understand how they can define each other.

'for' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for mincemeat that I've seen before include "pie-fillers" , "Christmas pie filling" , "Tart ingredient" , "What did one make of the defeated" , "Christmas pie filler" .)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
