Having had a drink, enquire if you’ll be scolded (5,2,4)
I believe the answer is:
taken to task
'scolded' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both to do with communicating as well as being past participle verbs.
Perhaps you can see an association between them that I don't see?
'having had a drink enquire if you'll' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'had' could be 'taken' (taking is a kind of having) and 'taken' is located in the answer.
'a' is within the answer.
'drink' could be 'tot' (I've seen this before) and 'tot' is present in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'be' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Another definition for taken to task that I've seen is " Reproved".)
