Heading to get seaman's mop for cleaning decks (4)
I believe the answer is:
swab
'cleaning decks' is the definition.
'swab' can be an answer for 'cleaning' (thesaurus). I am not certain of the 'decks' bit.
'heading to get seaman's mop' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'seaman' could be 'ab' (short for able seaman) and 'ab' is found within the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'for' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for swab that I've seen before include "Surgical cleaner" , "Cloth for cleaning wounds" , "Mop up - uncouth fellow" , "Specimen" , "Among others, Q-tip" .)
