Hebridean island song or poem (5)
I believe the answer is:
islay
'hebridean island' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'song or poem' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'song' could be 'lay' (poetic term for a song) and 'lay' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'is' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for islay that I've seen before include "Island noted for whisky" , "malt from here!" , "Scottish island" , "Isle known for distilleries" , "somewhere off Scottish mainland" .)
