Hide, or show, Native American between two poles (6)
I believe the answer is:
screen
'hide' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'american between two poles' is the wordplay.
'american' becomes 'cree' (Native American).
'between' is an insertion indicator.
'two poles' becomes 'sn' ().
'cree' inserted into 'sn' is 'SCREEN'.
'or show native' acts as a link.
I am not very happy about this link. Some or all of it may belong to another bit of the clue.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for screen that I've seen before include "Room divider" , "Show a motion picture (of)" , "Sheltering row of trees" , "show on TV" , "Movable partition - cinema" .)
