Hold out something that looks like a foot (4)
I believe the answer is:
last
'hold out' is the definition.
(I know that hold out can be written as last)
'something that looks like a foot' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'like' could be 'as' and 'as' is located in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for last that I've seen before include "Ultimate - endure" , "Rearmost" , "Survive; after all others" , "model of repair" , "Cobbler's model shape" .)
