Home-made and mended (7)
I believe the answer is:
knitted
'mended' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are past participle verbs, I cannot see how they can define each other.
'home-made and' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'and' could be 'n' (common abbreviation for 'and') and 'n' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'kitted' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for knitted that I've seen before include "Like woollen wear" , "Joined (eg eyebrows)" , "Made a jumper" , "Intertwined; woollen" , "Tied or linked together" .)
