Hunt around for lawyer to get compensation (8)
I believe the answer is:
scavenge
'hunt' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are verbs in their base form, I don't understand how one could define the other.
'around for lawyer to get compensation' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'around' could be 'ca' (circa) and 'ca' is found in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for scavenge that I've seen before include "Look for scrap" , "Search among discarded waste" , "Forage in rubbish" , "Pick up leavings" , "Clean up" .)
