Crossword Genius

I say, why me, being sent back to a rogue school? (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

academy

'school?' is the definition.
(I know that academy is a type of school)

'i say why me being sent back to a rogue' is the wordplay.
'i' becomes 'a'.
'say why' becomes 'y'.
'being sent back' says the letters should be written in reverse.
'to' says to put letters next to each other (I've seen this in other clues).
'a rogue' becomes 'cad' (I've seen this in another clue).
'y'+'me'='yme'
'yme' in reverse letter order is 'emy'.
'emy' after 'cad' is 'cademy'.
'a'+'cademy'='ACADEMY'

(Other definitions for academy that I've seen before include "institute" , "Type of school" , "Institution for the advancement of art, science, literature" , "Place of specialised study or training" , "Place of learning" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
