I will utter sad revue when drawn (11)
I believe the answer is:
illustrated
'when drawn' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both to do with communicating as well as being past participle verbs.
Maybe you can see an association between them that I can't see?
'i will utter sad revue' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'i' could be 'a' and 'a' is located in the answer.
'will' could be 'll' (contracted form, as in 'he'll' - 'he will') and 'll' is found within the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Another definition for illustrated that I've seen is " With pictures".)
